Past, Present, and Future

Pretty recently, I had a lot of ‘signs’ or ‘omens’ popping up in my life. I couldn’t understand what they were saying, but I knew that the universe was trying to talk to me. As is typical, I find myself wondering what will I be doing in the future. Where will my career take me?

I had a message that I sent to myself via the Co-Star app show up around this time. My words said something along the lines of, “What you did in the past and what you are currently doing in the present is more than likely what you will be doing in the future”. I realized that currently I am enrolled in an Innovation class and what I enjoy doing in my job today is solving problems that have no real solution. I recognized that I took this Innovation class because, at some point in my past, Innovation really spoke to me.

The realization is that more than likely, I will be doing something with Innovation in the future. With this realization, I decided that I should talk to one of my class’s instructors. This is very against my character, but when will I ever have this opportunity arise again? He is a CEO and founder of a company that just solves any type of problem (cultural, organizational, etc.). I am curious what realizations this conversation will bring. More than likely, it will be that I already know the path I am going.

I also recently heard Steve Job’s commencement speech at Stanford. He said a lot about how seemingly unimportant events will all add up to being important in the future. However, there is no way to recognize that at the moment. I think that we just need to look into what we enjoy and keep walking on that path. One day when we look back, all of the things that we enjoyed will weave together and make sense of why they were parts of our journey.
