Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein

This book was popping up in my Audible recommended and Caitlyn had recently read The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein and said good things about it. So I decided to get this book. Although I do not remember much about this book, I just know that it was a book on the Law of Attraction which I had already been introduced to in The Secret. Anyway, reading through my notes there is quite a bit of synchronicity.

Notes/ Thoughts:

  • I wrote down Course in Miracles and Abraham Hicks. The Course in Miracles is something that so many books refer to. I purchased the textbook on kindle, but have yet to read it at this moment. Abraham Hicks is a collective consciousness of a higher being that interacts with certain people through channeling. At this point, I read a few channeled texts, so I was aware of Abraham Hicks and I think Gabrielle Bernstein mentions these two topics early on in her book.
  • Accepting challenges does not bring more of them on through law of attraction. Instead, by accepting and being grateful you only pull what you desire from it. – Around the time, I was questioning if growth could only be achieved through chasing hardship. This book made me question this idea. I still believe a little bit in going after challenges, but I think it is a little more paradoxical than I originally believed.
  • If you give power over your life to outside factors, you bring more consciousness to it. – The interesting thing about this, is that I disagree with it. I feel like we should never give power over our life to outside factors. I think we bring more consciousness to decisions we make and if we give power to outside factors, we give up the ability to make decisions.
  • It is important to accept that it does not require hard work to get what we want. We choose what we get depending on what we believe. If we open ourselves up, we can accept that everything around us will line up how it is supposed to. – This challenges the belief that life is set up for us to struggle, but reframing our minds can show how things can actually line up.
  • Having a self righteous attitude for being more busy and stressed out than others. This causes long lasting suffering, I may achieve what I want but I will struggle through it. – I remember being far more self righteous when I was younger. I felt like my way was the right and best way, but now I do not believe this. Not only that, but I recognize this attitude at work, in myself and in others, where we act like we are all the busiest and most stressed people. I think its a way for us to justify to ourselves that we are better than others. But the funny thing is that everyone feels this way. Since stress is an internal metric, how do we know that others are not putting more stress and pressure on themselves even if they are less busy? No matter how high up the corporate ladder you go and no matter how busy you are, stress is not equivalent. We can scoff at people who are less busy and more stressed out, but that is pointless. It is probably a quality of leadership to be able to be cool under pressure and to not feel stressed when in the face of a busy workload.
  • Feeling good must come first
  • Spend time doing less, because the less I do the better I feel. A mindset shift of knowing that the better you feel, the more successful you will become. – This is an awesome foreshadow of my learnings from Essentialism.
  • When you gossip/ complain, you weaken the vibrational energy with the universe. It’s a choice to be grateful for what I do have. – I am currently reading Man’s Search for Meaning and this is a theme that stood out to me. Choosing how we will feel in each moment is the last freedom that every person has. It was interesting to see this be true even in the most dire of circumstances, such as being in a concentration camp.
  • Judgement is a crippling weakness
  • Spending energy to show we matter repels the love and power from other people. It repels our inspiration and creative ideas. We are worthy, why spend more energy proving it. – I guess this is a way to say, know your worth. Trying to get other people to see it, will push them away. Owning it brings them to us. A lesson, I think I learned in highschool once I began to love myself.
  • Energy goes where your intention goes.
  • When we become competitive, it is a form of lack. – I found this interesting because I always said that I was not competitive. However, I think this is a little bit of a loaded message, and not sure I fully support it.
  • Enjoy the journey and have fun along the way.
  • The people around us can be the greatest teachers because they mirror our resistance in ourselves. – Not sure about the second part of this sentence, but I definitely agree that people around us are the greatest teachers.
  • When you see others have what we want, celebrate for them.
  • If you try to have high vibration thoughts when you are in low vibration, it can hurt us more. – This is a message for me to not try and force that self righteous advice onto people that are beaten down. They aren’t in a space to absorb it at that moment. This is a good reminder.
  • Abraham Hicks Emotional Scale:

  • The happier and more selfishy we are, the more we can serve the world. Be selfish. – Similar to the lessons from Essentialism. You cannot help others if you have not helped yourself.
  • The more guidance you give, the more you show you are invested in another’s success.
  • “Have you asked your guides for help” – This was a card that I had pulled for a reading that I had with my hypnotherapist, so it was synchronicity to hear it in the book.
  • Guides are here whenever we need them. Perhaps they wait until we have attempted all we can on our own. Then when we need help, they will give it. – I have heard that guides will not interfere unless we specifically ask for their help. I have tried to ask for help more and more. Like yesterday, I asked for help on healing myself from this blanked of stress that washed over me. Or one time I asked to help me get back to sleep and I was shown my spirit animal. That will be a post for later!
  • Arch angels to ask for help. – Guides are usually specific to each individual person, but angels are supposedly available for all human kind. Guides usually are people that have lived life as a human, but angels are souls that have never incarnated on Earth but are the protectors. At least that is my understanding of the concept!
    • Michael: For Courage
    • Raphael: aid in healing
    • Gabriel: communication
    • Ariel: for nature connection
    • Jophiel: for artist and creativity and problem solving
    • Azrael: aids people when they are dying or healing grief from loved ones
    • Chamuel: peace to the world and dealing with adversity
  • Free writing – She mentioned meditation and just writing whatever words come into your mind. I think this was connected to the poem I wrote when my mother-in-law passed away and also what the hypnotherapist showed me.
  • If you trust in the outcome, you will be patient to what is to come.
  • Appreciation is what allows us to be a super attractor. We can see tragedy as a way to make us better and we will become a positive light for the universe.
