I mistakenly wrote a little while ago that Dr. Eben Alexander’s books prompted me with some exercises to experiment with using my psychic senses. Now I believe (still not 100% sure) it was actually this book You Are Psychic in which I had the exercises. I won’t repeat what I already wrote Here.
This book was one I took away from The Light Between Us. Laura Lynne Jackson always does a great job pointing out even though she is a medium, anyone can have a deeper connection to the other side.
In You Are Psychic, I learned about the four psychic senses (or clairs as many future books would refer to them). Totally, we have 9 senses (5 physical and 4 psychic). These psychic feelings become intuition or gut feelings that allow for us to feel or know more about a situation than just our physical senses can. Just like we are more dominated by certain physical senses, we also have varying strengths and weaknesses with these psychic senses. So what are they?
Clairvoyance is the one I think many people know. It means being able to see images that pop into your mind. Many people connect this to the third eye. Clairvoyance is not necessarily all about seeing the future. You can have flash images enter your mind that remind you that there is something you were meaning to do!
Clairaudience is when you hear things that are not from the physical senses. Often times people are described as clairaudient if they just randomly will hear something, and turn around to see nothing there. A lot of mediums that hear from loved ones that pass on are doing so with clairaudience. From my understanding on the topic, this is probably my weakest trait.
Clairsentience is when you have the ability to intuitively feel. It is described as walking into a room and sensing that an argument might have previously taken place. It is also for people that are very empathetic. They can feel and partake in other people’s emotions just by psychically feeling it. This is definitely my wife’s strength.
Claircognizance is when you just know. It is like a full download from the other side that allows you to just know what is going on around you, maybe even right before things happen. This is the trait that I aligned with. One of the examples of it is when people are talking to you, and you seem to know what they are going to say before they do so. You will often times say ‘I know’ a lot, or you may finish other people’s sentences.
Having psychic abilities does not mean that you are doing extraordinary magical things. It just means that you are tuned in to your surroundings and you ‘see/feel’ more based on these internal feelings rather than external physical senses. It’s having a good feeling about meeting someone new or feeling like it is time for a career change.
I know that for me at the time I read the book, this was very new territory for me. I think the exercises I did made me a believer that there was maybe something deeper to these psychic senses. Since then, there have been further explanations and books I have read that echo the same message.
